I drove by this meadow the other day and it had been completely mowed down. The wildflowers across the street didn’t make it through the last heat wave either. I’m glad I got to shoot here a couple of times but it also means spring is almost over and summer is near.

I love her! And I love working in the studio. I love me some natural light but I’m now split. No matter what the weather is like outside, no matter what time of day, you can shoot and the possibilities are endless.

I got to hang out with these fun kiddos this past weekend. And their mom and dad too, but I thought I would share a sneak peek of the three kids. It’s been a little while since I’ve had a shoot with boys, it’s been girls and more girls lately and we had a good time with these guys. It’s always funny how they come to their shoot, all dressed up with their practiced “cheese” smile reserved for those moments a camera is shoved in their faces. And it takes a while, they don’t know me, I don’t know them, but it eventually happens- that moment when they are just themselves and I figure them out and I get some real faces from them. 

This is from my recent trip with the Babiekins team to New York. We shot the sweetest little girl, Ryleigh, who drove from Pennsylvania and we walked all around the city in the Flatiron/Chelsea area. This was seriously the highlight of the trip. Ryleigh was so fun, we were going up and down each street and she was telling jokes and singing and laughing. And I took her to a spot where the Empire State building was right behind her and it hit me, I’m taking pictures in NY. Insane. I love that city, I fell in love. It really is as amazing as everyone says. I think about going back every day and I miss it. And this shoot sums up the trip perfectly it up perfectly, the buildings, the energy, the people.

I had the honor of shooting sweet little Cohen in the flowers for Babiekins Issue 12. Cohen won the contest to be on the cover and here she is-

The rest of the wild flowers for now. We had a mini heat wave last weekend and when I drove past this spot almost all of the purple flowers were gone. So sad, until next year I guess.

Can you tell I love wild flowers? A lot. I drive my kids crazy because I turn down side streets to look for them. When I saw this field I literally gasped and my daughter said, “what, what happened?! and rolled her eyes when I said “look at those ones!” I found the perfect spot and I never want it to go away. It was the perfect spot for the amazing Kayla. I love working with her. She’s so much fun, we were chasing lady bugs and stomping nettles. I have a lot more to share too, just you wait.

BABIEKINS: What was your favorite part of the fashion show?
CHANCE (11 years old): Ummmm…ALL of it!
BABIEKINS: And what was your favorite part of the show, Summer?
SUMMER (8 years old): I liked the Target dog!
BABIEKINS: What did you think about the Petite Parade fashion show?
CHANCE: I think it was amazing!

Spring has sprung! Spring is my absolute favorite time of the year and wild flowers are one of my favorite things ever. We were driving the other day and I made my hubby pull over to this amazing wild flower patch that went on for days. I took a lot of pictures with my phone but I was itchin’ to go back. Sometimes the flowers go so quickly and I didn’t want to miss them. So we went back yesterday. Full sun and haze but it didnt matter, not when the field looks like this. My little wild one was most impressed by the poppies, she had to find every one.
